Classical music and jazz: are they opposites, lines that never cross? Or are they relatives?

Tonight we listen to an invention with a jazz flavor, musical meditations on Bach by jazz composers and even a jazz arrangement (for organ and saxophone) of the famous Toccata in D minor. However the authentic version of Bach’s music for solo organ will be performed as well.
