Series: Cathedral's Eve
Vivaldi, Mozart, Mendelssohn
The concert featured:
Moscow Chamber Orchestra of the Pavel Slobodkin Centre
Programme: A. Vivaldi, W.A. Mozart, F. Mendelssohn
An orchestra plays classical music… It is solemn, beautiful and habitual, isn’t it? Try to listen to well-known masterpieces inside a cathedral where music sounds in a different way. The excellent acoustics gives a new sound and fullness to famous melodies. And as for the quality, it is the responsibility of the best professionals, soloists of the Moscow Chamber Orchestra of the Pavel Slobodkin Centre, who are going to demonstrate their unfailing skills.
The program includes pieces by three geniuses: Vivaldi, Mozart and Mendelssohn. All the three of them delighted their contemporaries with their talent since early childhood, and nowadays their compositions are an acknowledged standard of beauty and style.
Classical music is elitist by definition, but it is in the atmosphere of a cathedral that the harmonious sound finds its true absolute meaning. Stained-glass windows and columns help to concentrate on sublime images and plunge into the music deeper than in a normal concert hall.
