This stylish program of the Polish organist Dariusz Bąkowski-Kois includes rarely performed F. Liszt’s Christmas works, F. Nowowiejski’s fantasy A midnight Mass at Wawel Castle that will bring us into the world of Polish folklore and French classical pieces for organ.

Dariusz Bąkowski-Kois was born 1973 in Krakow, graduated from the Academy (University) of Music in Kraków in the organ class of Prof. Józef Serafin (2000; a diploma with honours), since his studies carries on lively concert activity in Poland and abroad: performances in France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Estonia, Italy, as well as in Mexico, Brasil, Russia and China. He has played recitals in such prestigious places as Hohe Domkirche St. Peter zu Trier, Antwerpen O.L.V.-Kathedraal, Sint-Baafskathedraal Gent, Sint-Salvatorskathedraal Brugge, Dom aan Sint-Maarten van Utrecht, Kathedrale basiliek Sint-Bavo Haarlem, Grote of Sint-Laurenskerk Rotterdam, Grote of O.L.V. Breda or National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. In 2001-2007 closely collaborated with the Capella Cracoviensis ensemble, playing solo parts as well as organo obbligato and basso continuo in numerous concerts. Specialized in performance of French Neo-Romantic symphonic organ during his post-diploma studies with Prof. Magdalena Czajka at the Frederic Chopin Academy of Music in Warszawa (2002/2003). Continued his post-diploma studies in the class of organ of Thomas Schmögner (2003/2004, studies in Ferenc Liszt’s organ music) at the Vienna Conservatory, presently Privatuniversität Wien. He was a member of the jury of the international organ competitions in Rumia and Łódź and many national Polish organ competitions as well. In 1997 graduated also from the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, where in 2002 received PhD at its Faculty of History. Since 1999 he teaches  at Organ Department at the Academy of Music in Kraków (since 2013 at full professor post), leading classes in organ playing, chamber music and basso continuo (being a specialist in ancient, especially baroque music he wrote in 2006 the habilitation dissertation devoted to performance issues of Iberian organ music of the 17th century). In 2014 fulfilled postgraduate studies Master of Business Administration – University Management at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. In 2008-2012 period was a Vice-Dean of the Instrumental Faculty, 2012-2016 a Vice-Rector of the Academy of Music in Kraków, and presently (since 2016) holds the post of  Head of Organ Department there.
