The De Boni Arte Foundation presents a new episode of the Music of the World’s Cathedrals concert series: Caline Malnoury, Titular organist of Saint Bruno-lès-Chartreux in Lyon, gives a recital in the Catholic Cathedral of Moscow.
The words “charme” and “fleur” came from France but sound now very Russian, signifying something subtle but impressing and creating a certain atmosphere. It is not for nothing that impressionism was born in France. The French organ music is special as well. Made of semitones and rough inebriant accords, it captures the listener and leaves an aftertaste of a good wine. Even classical masterpieces performed by French artists seem to have a fragrance of the herbs of Provence. Tonight an organist from Lyon, an ancient city in the Rhône Valley, famous for its gardens and vineyards, will play Bach and the best French organ composers.
