Music of the World’s Cathedrals. Daniel Salvador (organ, Spain)
19:30 - 21:00
12.03.17 (Sun), 19:30

Organist of the Pontifical Basilica of St. Michael in Madrid
Daniel Salvador (organ, Spain)

We cannot help loving Spanish music, bright and hot as the sunny climate of Spain. It is especially dear for Russian music lovers as it warms their souls like a sip of flavoured sherry and helps them to go through the long Russian winter. But Spanish inflammatory tunes and beats are perfect in spring as well, when nature is waking up and calls to joy and motion. The word flamenco is familiar to all, but there are other musical styles and genres, not less curious, tiento for instance. This name derives from the verb “to feel about for”. A musician playing tiento forms an image by pointed movements of his fingers, as if he were creating a sculpture. There are also fandango and batalla, a special genre, sort of musical battle. All these curious things will be presented by a true maestro, Daniel Salvador, organist of the Pontifical Basilica of St. Michael in Madrid.

Program: J. Cabanilles, S. Aguilera de Heredia, F. Correa de Araujo, A. de Cabezón, A. Martín y Coll, J.P. Sweelinck, J. de Torres, A. Soler
