How should an angel’s voice sound? High and clear, without dramatic human emotions or earthly passions, but with a reflection of a remote inscrutable celestial radiance. This is exactly the way a children’s choir sounds inside a cathedral. It’s not for nothing that long ago female singers with their strong breath and rich timbre were not admitted to church choirs. High notes were entrusted only to boys, altos and descants.
In our concert little angels and two excellent adult female vocalists present masterpieces of European sacred music: G. Pergolesi’s “Stabat Mater”, B. Britten’s “Missa Brevis”, pieces by Bach and Handel. We are also going to listen to the Znamenny chant (the main treasure of the musical tradition of the Russian Orthodox Church) and to an old Greek hymn.
Program: G.B. Pergolesi, fragments of “Stabat Mater”; compositions by J.S. Bach and B. Britten; Russian orthodox songs and a Greek orthodox hymnДорогие друзья! Приобретая билеты, Вы соглашаетесь с правилами посещения концертов в Соборе
